Bhopal: The Bhopal Tamil Sangam (BTS), a community organization devoted to promoting and preserving Tamil culture, is set to host the much-anticipated Pongal 2025 festival on January 19, at the Career College Auditorium in BHEL, Bhopal.
The festival, a symbol of thanksgiving for the harvest, will celebrate unity, prosperity, and cultural pride among the Tamil community and Bhopal’s diverse population. As one of the most important festivals for Tamils, Pongal brings together communities worldwide to honor the harvest season.
BTS has consistently been at the forefront of preserving and promoting Tamil Nadu’s rich traditions and culture, providing a platform for the local Tamil diaspora to connect and celebrate their heritage. The 2025 celebration promises to be the largest and most vibrant yet.
Expected to draw over 1,200 attendees, including government officials, business leaders, community representatives, media, and art enthusiasts, the event will feature a colorful array of Tamil culture. Highlights include traditional music, dance performances, art displays, and a showcase of Tamil Nadu’s festive cuisine.
Local and renowned artists from Tamil Nadu and the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, will perform, with 20 artists from Tamil Nadu’s Art and Culture Department and 15 from the Ministry of Culture taking center stage.
The event will also celebrate emerging local talent, including performances by children and young artists from Bhopal. In addition to the performances, attendees will be treated to an authentic Tamil feast, with an assortment of traditional dishes that are an integral part of the Pongal festival. The event will highlight Tamil cuisine, with flavors that have been passed down through generations, offering a sensory experience that complements the cultural festivities.
