If any religious city has emerged as a role model in terms of religious tourism in the country, then it is definitely Ujjain. Ujjain has witnessed a big surge in tourism, particularly following the establishment of Mahakal Lok. It has become one of the most visited religious sites in the country. This surge in visitors challenges the notion held by some scholars regarding the employment opportunities created by temple construction. Mahakal Lok has positively impacted the economic health of Ujjain and its neighboring areas, ushering in new avenues for development and prosperity.
Therefore, now the work of expansion of Mahakal Lok is going on rapidly here. Ujjain is also set to be completely transformed before Simhastha 2028. All departments have started working here at a fast pace.
