Indian badminton star PV Sindhu, a two-time Olympic medalist, is set to tie the nuptial knot on December 22. The former world champion recently ended a title drought with a victory at the Syed Modi International in Lucknow. Her fiancé, Venkat Dutta Sai, is an executive director at Posidex Technologies and is based in Hyderabad.
Sindhu’s father, PV Ramana, shared that both families were familiar with each other, but the wedding arrangements were finalized just a month ago.
He mentioned, “This was the only possible time because her (Sindhu’s) schedule is going to be very busy from January.” The wedding ceremony is planned for December 22, with a reception in Hyderabad on December 24. Sindhu will begin her training soon after, as the upcoming session is expected to be crucial.”
Regarded as one of India’s greatest badminton players, Sindhu has an impressive record, including five medals at the World Championships, with a gold medal in 2019. She has also secured silver and bronze medals at the Olympic Games, achieving consecutive Olympic medals in Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020, and reaching a career-best world ranking of number two in 2017.
Her accomplishments include winning her first Superseries title at the 2016 China Open, followed by four more finals in 2017, with victories in South Korea and India. Sindhu is the only Indian player to win the BWF World Tour Finals in 2018 and remains the reigning Commonwealth Games champion, having earned three consecutive singles medals in the Commonwealth Games, a silver medal at the Asian Games, and two bronze medals at the Uber Cup.
