As part of the Chhath Puja celebrations in Bhopal, following the ‘Kharna’ ritual on Wednesday, devotees will gather on Thursday to offer ‘Arghya’ to the setting sun at Khatlapura Ghat, the city’s oldest Chhath ghat. The Bhojpuri Utsav Samiti Khatlapura has planned an elaborate event to honor the occasion, featuring a ‘Deepdaan‘ (lamp offering) and a vibrant display of light-based fireworks.
To enrich the cultural festivities, the Samiti has invited notable Bhojpuri artists, including popular singer Sonu Pandey from Bihar and Ujala Vishwakarma from Varanasi. These performers will entertain devotees with traditional Bhojpuri music, enhancing the spiritual atmosphere at the ghat.
Cultural programs are scheduled for both November 7 and 8, ensuring that attendees can enjoy a complete celebration experience. Additionally, the Samiti has organized a special tea service for devotees on November 8 for the Paran ritual, marking the end of the fast.
A highlight of this year’s celebrations is the launch of the book Chhath – Worshipping the Sun and Celebrating Nature, authored by Miss Ekisha Singh, a member of the Bhojpuri community. This launch is scheduled for November 7, adding a unique literary dimension to the event.
All necessary preparations have been finalized for the puja at Khatlapura Ghat, with the support of the Municipal Corporation. Facilities include dedicated changing rooms for devotees and thorough arrangements for lighting, sound, and security to ensure a safe and comfortable experience for all participants.
