Baba Siddique Murder Investigation: Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has provided an update on the murder of Baba Siddique, a leader from the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) Ajit faction, revealing that police have discovered some clues related to the case.
Fadnavis stated that the Mumbai Police are investigating multiple angles but cannot disclose detailed information due to the sensitivity of the ongoing inquiry. Siddique was shot dead by three attackers in the Kher Nagar area of Bandra, Mumbai, last Saturday night.
Expressing his personal shock and sorrow over the incident, Fadnavis remarked, “We are all deeply saddened by this horrific and tragic event. Baba Siddique was very close to me; we worked together for many years.” Siddique had joined the NCP, led by Ajit Pawar, earlier this year after leaving the Congress party.
Responding to allegations from NCP chief Sharad Pawar regarding the state government’s accountability, Fadnavis emphasized that the murder is being thoroughly investigated. “We have found some leads, but I cannot reveal them at this stage. Some motives behind the attack have been identified, but further information will be shared after the legal process is completed,” he clarified.
The fatal shooting occurred just outside Siddique’s son’s office, where three assailants surrounded him and opened fire. Despite being rushed to Lilavati Hospital, Siddique succumbed to his injuries and was declared dead upon arrival. The Mumbai Police have since arrested two suspects involved in the attack.
In a new development, authorities are examining a viral social media post allegedly from a member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, which claims responsibility for the murder. The authenticity of the post is under investigation, and officials are cautious about drawing conclusions until all evidence is thoroughly reviewed.
The investigation into Siddique’s murder continues as authorities work to uncover the motives and individuals responsible for this high-profile killing.
