PM Internship Scheme: Under the Prime Minister’s Internship Program, 1.25 lakh unemployed youth of the country are to be given internship. The first batch of the scheme will start in Maharashtra, Gujarat, Uttarakhand and Telangana. For this, registration has to be done between October 12 and October 25. The list of shortlisted candidates will be handed over to the companies by October 26. The selection process will be completed between October 27 and November 7 and internship will start from December 2. The youth will be given training for one year.
Who can apply?
To apply in this scheme, the youth should be between 21 and 24 years of age. Candidates who are studying online or through distance learning can also apply. Apart from this, candidates with 10th, 12th pass, ITI, Polytechnic or holding degrees like BA, BSc, BCom, BCA, BBA and B Pharma will also be considered eligible.
Who will not get the opportunity?
Graduates of institutions like IIT, IIM, National Law University, TripleIT and IISER will not be able to apply in this scheme. Those who have degrees of CA, CS, CMA, MBBS, BDS, MBA will also not be able to apply. Apart from this, those whose parents or spouse’s income is more than Rs 8 lakh will also be considered ineligible.
Monthly payment will be given under internship
Candidates will be given Rs 5,000 every month during this internship. Out of this, Rs 4,500 will be given by the Central Government through DBT, while Rs 500 will be given by the companies from CSR fund. Apart from this, an amount of Rs 6,000 will also be provided at one time. Many companies have also promised to provide lunch and transport facilities.
111 companies came forward
111 companies have participated on the first day of the pilot project. These companies are being given internship training in a virtual manner. A call center has also been set up under this scheme, which will provide help in 10 Indian languages.
Other special facilities
Reservation will be implemented for SC, ST, OBC and Divyang category candidates in the internship selection process. At the time of selection, care will be taken that the candidates get an internship opportunity in companies in or around their district.
