The Madhya Pradesh government is poised to roll out Vande Metro projects in urban areas to enhance public transport facilities, as announced by Chief Minister Mohan Yadav. During a review meeting on ongoing development projects in Indore, Yadav said that the existing metro rail operates at a maximum speed of 80 kilometers per hour, while the Vande Metro can achieve speeds of up to 160 kilometers per hour.
CM Yadav also confirmed that Ujjain will be linked to Indore by metro rail before the Simhastha Kumbh Mela in 2028. He revealed plans to accelerate the construction of the Indore metro project, which will include elevated roads to address the city’s traffic issues. Additionally, the state government is progressing toward establishing a metropolitan authority that will cover parts of Indore, Ujjain, Dewas, and Dhar districts.
“We have prepared a blueprint to form metropolitan authorities in four cities. The feasibility report has shown the most promise for Indore and Ujjain, and authorities will also be formed in the other metropolitan areas,” he stated.
In the meeting chaired by CM Dr. Yadav, it was decided to prepare an action plan for the overall development of the proposed Indore Metropolitan Area and the Indore Regional Development Area. The CM mentioned that 29 villages were incorporated into the Indore Municipal Corporation limits in 2012, and public representatives have suggested various improvements, including access to drinking water, roads, sewage, and other essential services.
He instructed the preparation of a special action plan for the development of these 29 villages within one month. Furthermore, it was decided to build six additional bridges at key junctions in Indore city, replacing the previously proposed elevated bridge from LIG to Navlakha.
