During the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, Rahul Gandhi, along with Congress leaders, party workers, and citizens, embarked on a journey across thousands of kilometers. This yatra was not just about connecting with people but also involved activities that promoted physical fitness and community building.
Rahul Gandhi shared that every evening at their campsite, they had a routine of practicing jiu-jitsu. “What began as a simple way to stay fit quickly evolved into a community activity, bringing together fellow yatris and young martial arts students from the towns where we stayed,” Rahul wrote on his Facebook page. This initiative helped create a bond among the participants and the locals, fostering a sense of unity and mutual learning.
He further explained the deeper purpose behind these sessions: “Our goal was to introduce these young minds to the beauty of the ‘Gentle Art’—a harmonious blend of meditation, jiu-jitsu, Aikido, and non-violent conflict resolution techniques. We aimed to instill in them the value of transforming violence into gentleness, giving them the tools to build a more compassionate and safer society.” This approach to martial arts emphasized not just physical strength but also mental discipline and the importance of non-violence.
On the occasion of #NationalSportsDay, Rahul Gandhi shared their experiences and encouraged more people to take up the practice of the ‘Gentle Art’. He also hinted at the launch of a new initiative called “Bharat Dojo Yatra,” which is expected to continue promoting these values and practices.
