
Bhopal School of Social Sciences organized a two-day national seminar on Custodians of Culture: Contribution of Women – Protecting Indian Traditional Knowledge, Heritage and Value System in Building a Developed India 2047 on 7th and 8th March 2025. The event was organised by the Women Cell of BSSS.
Dr Fr John PJ, Principal of BSSS College highlighted the importance of women’s contribution in cultural preservation in a rapidly modernising world.
Chief guest of the day former Sarpanch Bhakti Sharma shared her views on women empowerment.
The second day of the seminar saw engaging panel discussions and technical sessions, with thought-provoking conversations on cultural preservation and policy integration, with eminent speakers participating in a panel discussion on “Women as Guardians of Culture” moderated by Dr Manju Mehta.
Mr Bhaskar Indrakanti emphasized the power of mindset in shaping progressive gender attitudes while Ms. Ritu Yadav spoke about the global importance of women as cultural custodians and their advocacy for political rights.
Mrs. Manisha Anand spoke about the transformative role of women in achieving economic independence and excellence in various fields. Dr. Pratibha Rajagopal spoke about women’s expertise in resource management and their role in instilling values in society while Dr. Ritu Sharma provided historical perspective on social development.
Ms. Anuradha Panda focused on the role of women in traditional occupations highlighting their expertise in pottery making, spinning and weaving, embroidery work and culinary knowledge.
The session on integrating women’s contribution in development frameworks moderated by Prof. Mona Purohit spoke on the Indian economic scenario and advocated a balanced approach that combines cultural preservation with economic progress to empower women as key contributors to India’s future.
The programme concluded with a collective commitment to promote women leadership, gender equality and ensure an inclusive and progressive future in line with the vision of Developed India 2047.
