
Olympic medalist Neeraj Chopra married Himani Mor of Sonipat in Solan on January 16. Both of them went to America immediately after the marriage. Neeraj and Himani will continue their sports training in America. They are expected to return to India in May. The family says that the reception will be organized only after their return.
The family has made plans for their reception. There will be separate reception programs at VIP and local level. A reception will be given to VIPs in any big city like Delhi or Chandigarh. Apart from this, a local level reception will be held in the city. At the same time, a party can also be held in America or any other country with his international teammates.
Neeraj took only one rupee and a nariyal (coconut) as shagun for engagement, marriage and farewell during the wedding ceremony. Both the families have performed the marriage without any dowry. Neeraj Chopra’s uncle Bhim Chopra said that Neeraj and Himani got married with the consent of both the families.
According to sources, during the wedding period, the mobiles of the resort employees and the guests were also deposited. Not only this, the marriage rituals were completed by putting tape on the CCTV. After the marriage, the couple left the resort immediately. Only after this, the mobiles were given to the employees. It is being told that the employees were also strictly instructed that no one will tell about the marriage. Due to this, no one got a hint of it.
All the rituals were completed as per the Haryanvi customs. Himani’s father Chand Ram Mor told that the talks of marriage were going on for a long time. Neeraj and Himani are both players and know each other for eight years. The marriage took some time due to Neeraj being busy in the preparations for the Paris Olympics.
Himaani’s father Chandram Mor told that after the marriage on January 16, Neeraj and Himani came to their house in village Ladsauli on January 17. Here Neeraj ate roti with ghee-bura as well as chutney and vegetables. Also, while leaving the house, he gave Neeraj 500 rupees as shagun.
