
Aarohi Pardhi of Waraseoni Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya in Madhya Pradesh’s Balaghat has been selected for the tour of Indian Space Research Center Sriharikota. School’s Mathematics teacher Gaurishankar Pardhi said that the girl studying in class 10th has been selected for the tour from 18 to 31 May.
The programme is organized for school children by the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) under the Government of India Yuva Vaigyanik Program. Its main objective is to provide basic knowledge about space science and technology to the youth and increase their interest.
Under Yuvika, an examination is conducted every year in the month of March for the students studying in class 9th. In the online examination, 50 percent weightage of class 8th is given. Also, certificates obtained in various national events like Science and Olympiad etc. are mandatory. The test is of total 180 marks.
The objective of the program is to provide basic knowledge about space science, technology and applications to the youth and to make them aware about the emerging trends of space science and technology. It aims to motivate the youth to make a career in the space sector and promote scientific thinking and curiosity among the youth.
In the program, students are given two weeks of residential training at various ISRO centers. They are given classroom lectures on various topics of space science and technology. Various experimental demonstrations are shown. Facility and laboratory tours are conducted. There is an opportunity to discuss with ISRO scientists and experts. Extracurricular activities like yoga, meditation, sports, cultural activities and local sightseeing are also organized for the students.
