
The words and thoughts of the great playwright of English literature, William Shakespeare, resonated in the Sharda Auditorium of Rabindranath Tagore University (RNTU) when the Department of Humanities and Liberal Arts successfully organized the 5th ‘Fête de Shakespeare’ in collaboration with the Language Teaching Center and Srijan Club.
This annual festival was organized as a tribute to Shakespeare’s literary legacy, which saw enthusiastic participation of students and a deep understanding of literature.
On this special occasion, Dr. Vinita Mohindra, Professor, Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology was present as the Chief Guest. She appreciated the leadership and dedication of Dr. Ruchi Mishra Tiwari, Dean, Faculty of Humanities and Liberal Arts, for organizing the event. She described such events as essential to keep the literary legacy alive.
On this occasion, Dr. Amrita Singh, a former student of Rabindranath Tagore University and currently an English teacher, was present as the special guest. She presented the impact of Shakespeare’s works from a creative perspective and highlighted his literary contribution through his famous lines. Her presentation was particularly successful in establishing a connection with the students.
Special guest Dr. Vanita Saxena praised the dedication and creative presentations of the students wholeheartedly. Her appreciation further motivated the students.
The dignified presence of the Vice Chancellor of the University Dr. R. P. Dubey and Registrar Dr. Sangeeta Chaudhary in the program reflected the commitment of the University towards literary initiatives.
A poignant moment of the program was when a short video based on the journey of ‘Fete de Shakespeare’ was presented. In this video, it was told that this program was initially started online and now it is being organized successfully for five consecutive years.
Students of the Department of Humanities and Liberal Arts demonstrated their oratory skills by giving impressive recitations of Shakespeare’s poems and sonnets. The participation of international students particularly impressed the audience and their presentation received a lot of appreciation.
The event concluded with a grand stage performance of a Shakespearean comedy by the students of Tagore National School of Drama under the guidance of Mr. Morris. Their acting prowess and liveliness mesmerized the audience.
