
Bhopal: A two-day program was recently organized by the Science Communication Center, Faculty of Science, and National Service Scheme (NSS) unit of Rabindranath Tagore University, Bhopal to commemorate World Earth Day-2025. On this occasion, various activities were organized keeping environmental protection and awareness at the center.
On the first day of the program, tree plantation was undertaken on the campus by the faculty members and students. After this, Professor Dr. Suchi Modi gave an impressive presentation on environmental protection and medicinal plants. She explained how these plants are not only beneficial for our health but also play an important role in environmental balance. Along with this, the students made and displayed attractive posters on World Earth Day.
On the second day of the program, NSS students visited Char Mandali village of Raisen and contributed to the development of the village by offering Shramdaan there. On this occasion, retired IRS officer and Gandhian Shri R. S. Paliwal and social reformer and Gandhian Shri Laxman Gole addressed the students and gave the message of saving the earth and moving towards organic farming.
In this program, Dean of Science Faculty Dr. Poorvi Bhardwaj, In-charge of Science Communication Center Dr. Preeti Singh and NSS Head Shri Gabbar Singh and Dr. Rekha Gupta also expressed their views on environmental protection and climate change. They urged the students to be aware and play an active role in the conservation of nature.
The program concluded with the students’ visit to Jhiri (Raisen) which is the origin of Betwa River. This trip gave the students an opportunity to connect with nature and understand the importance of conservation of water sources. This special event of World Earth Day further strengthened the sense of awareness and responsibility towards the environment among the students and faculty members.
