Guna : When was the last time you visited a post office, or when did a postman deliver a letter to you? For more than 150 years, the Indian Postal Service has helped the country to engage in communication and social-economic development. It has succeeded in touching the lives of people across the country from delivering mails to accepting deposits and providing retail services like bill collection, sale of forms, Insurance schemes, etc.
The number of post offices was about 23,000 when India became independent in 1947 and these were primarily in urban areas. With 1,57,000 post offices, India Post is the widest postal network in the world today.
We’ve heard and remember stories of 10 paisa postcards and yellow envelopes, about money orders being received by working people, farmers and parents, soldiers in glacier and boarders receiving letters from their wives and children, reading words of love and wait, it would bring a smile to their faces and would keep them strong and telegraph messages. Waiting for that one letter to arrive with the postman on their doorstep to penning down their next without any expectations of receiving an immediate reply, there was a time when Indians happily treasured their relationship with post offices, until telephones and e-mails entered their lives.
Since the mid-1990s, the Internet has had a revolutionary impact on communication, including the rise of near-instant communication by electronic mail, instant messaging, voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) telephone calls, two-way interactive video calls, discussion forums, blogs, and social networking.
But the post offices still play a key role in the society and to draw people’s attention towards the role of postal department in today’s IT age, the postal department in Madhya Pradesh’s Guna took a unique initiative.
Under the inspiration and guidance of Union Communications and Northeast Development Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, the Postal Department in Guna Postal Division is beautifying all the post offices under Project Arrow/Look & Feel. In this sequence, recently the beautification work of Guna City and Guna Collectorate post offices of Guna city was inaugurated.
In the beautification program of the post office held in the premises of Guna Collectorate Sub Post Office, the formal inauguration program was held in the presence of Chief Guest Guna MLA Pannalal Shakya, Special Guest BJP District President Dharmendra Sikarwar, Municipal Council President Smt. Savita Arvind Gupta, BJP District Media Incharge Vikas Jain Nakhrali. Superintendent Post Office Guna OP Chaturvedi, Assistant Superintendent Ravindra Bhargava and all the officers and employees of the post office were present in the program.
Addressing the program, Chief Guest MLA Shakya said that the tradition of letter writing is ancient. It is necessary to develop this art further. He appealed to all the citizens to keep the art of letter writing alive.
Addressing the program, District President Sikarwar said that the credit for renovating and beautifying the post office goes to our regional MP and Union Minister Scindia ji. Many thanks and gratitude to Union Minister Scindia for this. Due to whose tireless efforts, the post offices are being beautified. Now the general public of this area will get more facilities on the lines of banks. Sikarwar said that the Postal Department plays an important role in communication, financial services and social security in India. It provides access to people in rural areas.

गुना : आप आखिरी बार कब डाकघर गए थे या डाकिया ने आपको चिट्ठी दी थी? 150 से ज़्यादा सालों से भारतीय डाक सेवा देश को संचार और सामाजिक-आर्थिक विकास में मदद कर रही है। डाक पहुँचाने से लेकर पैसे जमा करवाने और बिल कलेक्शन, फॉर्म की बिक्री, बीमा योजना जैसी खुदरा सेवाएँ देने तक इसने देश भर के लोगों के जीवन को छुआ है।
1947 में जब भारत आज़ाद हुआ था, तब डाकघरों की संख्या लगभग 23,000 थी और ये मुख्य रूप से शहरी इलाकों में थे। 1,57,000 डाकघरों के साथ, इंडिया पोस्ट आज दुनिया का सबसे बड़ा डाक नेटवर्क है।

हमें 10 पैसे के पोस्टकार्ड और पीले लिफाफे की कहानियाँ याद हैं। मनीऑर्डर कामकाजी लोगों, किसानों और माताओं-पिताओं को मिलते थे। ग्लेशियरों और सीमावर्ती क्षेत्रों में सैनिकों को अपनी पत्नियों और बच्चों से पत्र मिलते थे। प्यार के शब्दों को पढ़कर उनके चेहरे पर मुस्कान आ जाती थी और वे मजबूत बने रहते थे। वे डाकिये के साथ उस एक पत्र के आने का इंतजार करते थे। अगला पत्र लिखने के बाद उन्हें तुरंत जवाब की कोई उम्मीद नहीं होती थी। एक समय था जब भारतीय डाकघरों के साथ अपने रिश्ते को खुशी-खुशी संजोते थे। यह तब बदल गया जब टेलीफोन और ईमेल ने उनके जीवन में प्रवेश किया।
इंटरनेट ने संचार पर क्रांतिकारी प्रभाव डाला
1990 के दशक के मध्य से, इंटरनेट ने संचार पर क्रांतिकारी प्रभाव डाला है, जिसमें इलेक्ट्रॉनिक मेल, इंस्टेंट मैसेजिंग, वॉयस ओवर इंटरनेट प्रोटोकॉल (वीओआईपी) टेलीफोन कॉल, टू-वे इंटरेक्टिव वीडियो कॉल, ब्लॉग और सोशल नेटवर्किंग के माध्यम से लगभग तुरंत संचार की शुरुआत शामिल है।
अनूठी पहल
लेकिन डाकघर अभी भी समाज में एक महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका निभाते हैं और आज के आईटी युग में डाक विभाग की भूमिका की ओर लोगों का ध्यान आकर्षित करने के लिए, मध्य प्रदेश के गुना में डाक विभाग ने एक अनूठी पहल की।
केंद्रीय संचार एवं पूर्वोत्तर विकास मंत्री ज्योतिरादित्य सिंधिया की प्रेरणा एवं मार्गदर्शन में डाक विभाग गुना डाक संभाग में प्रोजेक्ट एरो/लुक एंड फील के तहत सभी डाकघरों का सौंदर्यीकरण कर रहा है। इसी क्रम में हाल ही में गुना शहर के गुना शहर एवं गुना कलेक्ट्रेट डाकघरों के सौंदर्यीकरण कार्य का लोकार्पण किया गया।
गुना कलेक्ट्रेट उप डाकघर परिसर में आयोजित डाकघर के सौंदर्यीकरण कार्यक्रम में मुख्य अतिथि गुना विधायक पन्नालाल शाक्य, विशिष्ट अतिथि भाजपा जिला अध्यक्ष धर्मेंद्र सिकरवार, नगर पालिका परिषद अध्यक्ष श्रीमती सविता अरविंद गुप्ता, भाजपा जिला मीडिया प्रभारी विकास जैन नखराली की उपस्थिति में औपचारिक लोकार्पण कार्यक्रम हुआ। कार्यक्रम में अधीक्षक डाकघर गुना ओपी चतुर्वेदी, सहायक अधीक्षक रविंद्र भार्गव एवं डाकघर के सभी अधिकारी एवं कर्मचारी मौजूद रहे।
पत्र लेखन की परंपरा प्राचीन है
कार्यक्रम को संबोधित करते हुए मुख्य अतिथि विधायक शाक्य ने कहा कि पत्र लेखन की परंपरा प्राचीन है। इस कला को और विकसित करना आवश्यक है। उन्होंने सभी नागरिकों से पत्र लेखन की कला को जीवित रखने की अपील की।
कार्यक्रम को संबोधित करते हुए जिला अध्यक्ष सिकरवार ने कहा कि डाकघर के जीर्णोद्धार एवं सौन्दर्यीकरण का श्रेय हमारे क्षेत्रीय सांसद एवं केन्द्रीय मंत्री सिंधिया जी को जाता है। इसके लिए केन्द्रीय मंत्री सिंधिया जी का बहुत-बहुत धन्यवाद एवं आभार। जिनके अथक प्रयासों से डाकघरों का सौन्दर्यीकरण हो रहा है। अब इस क्षेत्र की आम जनता को बैंकों की तर्ज पर और अधिक सुविधाएं मिलेंगी। सिकरवार ने कहा कि डाक विभाग भारत में संचार, वित्तीय सेवाओं एवं सामाजिक सुरक्षा में महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका निभाता है। यह ग्रामीण क्षेत्रों में लोगों तक पहुंच प्रदान करता है।
कार्यक्रम को संबोधित करते हुए अधीक्षक डाकघर गुना चतुर्वेदी ने सभी गुना शहरवासियों से डाकघर की जनकल्याणकारी योजनाओं का लाभ उठाने की अपील की है। कार्यक्रम को नगर पालिका परिषद अध्यक्ष श्रीमती सविता अरविंद गुप्ता ने भी संबोधित किया।
