Madhya Pradesh CM Dr Mohan Yadav has said that there is immense potential for wildlife tourism in Madhya Pradesh and the government is working sincerely for the conservation of forests, environment and aquatic animals including wildlife.
Taking one more step towards wildlife conservation, now two new wildlife sanctuaries will be established in the state. These new wildlife sanctuaries will be developed in Omkareshwar and Jahangarh.
CM Mohan Yadav approved the establishment of two new wildlife sanctuaries during the 28th meeting of the Madhya Pradesh State Wildlife Board at Samatva Bhavan. He announced that the Omkareshwar Wildlife Sanctuary will be developed across about 614.07 sq. km in the Dewas-Khandwa district, while the Jahangarh Wildlife Sanctuary will be established in 6.328 sq. km of forest area in Sheopur district.
CM Yadav highlighted the positive outcomes of the government’s conservation efforts, noting the increasing populations of tigers, leopards, cheetahs, elephants, and gharials, along with the remarkable growth in the number of endangered vultures.
According to the latest vulture census conducted from 17 to 19 February 2025, Madhya Pradesh recorded 12,981 vultures, reflecting a 19% increase in the past year alone.
In the meeting, CM Mohan Yadav was informed that a wildlife rescue center cum zoo is proposed in Naulakhi of Ujjain district. The CM inquired about the progress of the establishment of this center and gave instructions to speed up this work. He said that the rescue center cum zoo should be prepared for wildlife tourism.
In the meeting, it was told that like Ujjain, construction of a wildlife rescue center cum zoo is also proposed in Jabalpur district. CM said that Madhya Pradesh is rich in wildlife diversity. A large number of crocodiles are found in Mandsaur, Neemuch, Shivpuri and Chambal districts here.
CM emphasized on the need to rehabilitate crocodiles in unoccupied river areas to prevent them from straying onto roads and into populated regions.
CM Mohan Yadav directed officials to explore the possibility of bringing rhinoceroses from Kaziranga National Park in Assam and giraffes from South Africa to Madhya Pradesh. He also instructed the preparation and broadcast of engaging videos showcasing the state’s tourist destinations and wildlife sanctuaries.
During the meeting, Vice Chancellor of Makhanlal Chaturvedi University, Shri Vijay Manohar Tiwari, suggested conducting a survey to document tribal places of worship and ancient temples of cultural significance located within the forests of Madhya Pradesh.
मध्य प्रदेश में बनेंगे दो नए वन्य जीव अभ्यारण्य; मुख्यमंत्री मोहन यादव ने दी मंजूरी, उज्जैन एवं जबलपुर में बनेंगे रेस्क्यू सेंटर कम जू; क्या मध्य प्रदेश के जंगलों में गैंडे और जिराफ भी घूमेंगे?
मुख्यमंत्री डॉ. मोहन यादव ने कहा है मध्यप्रदेश में वन्य जीव पर्यटन की अपार संभावनाएं मौजूद हैं और सरकार दृढ़ संकल्प के साथ वन, पर्यावरण एवं वन्य जीव सहित जलीय जंतुओं के संरक्षण के लिए भी काम कर रही है। वन्य जीव संरक्षण की दिशा में एक कदम ओर बढ़ाते हुए अब प्रदेश में दो नए वन्य जीव अभयारण्य स्थापित किए जाएंगे। यह नए वन्य जीव अभयारण्य ओंकारेश्वर एवं जहानगढ़ में स्थापित किए जाएंगे। उन्होंने बताया कि ओंकारेश्वर वन्य जीव अभयारण्य देवास-खंडवा जिले के करीब 614.0709 वर्ग कि.मी. वन रकबे में तथा जहानगढ़ वन्य जीव अभयारण्य श्योपुर जिले के 6.328 वर्ग कि.मी. वन रकबे पर विकसित किया जाएगा।
मुख्यमंत्री डॉ. यादव ने गुरुवार को समत्व भवन (मुख्यमंत्री निवास) में मध्यप्रदेश राज्य वन्यप्राणी बोर्ड की 28वीं बैठक में 2 वन्य जीव अभयारण्य की स्थापना को मंजूरी दी। उन्होंने कहा कि प्रदेश में बाघ, तेंदुआ, चीता, हाथी, घड़ियाल के साथ-साथ विलुप्त होती प्रजाति के गिद्धों की संख्या में भी वृद्धि हो रही है।
गत माह 17 से 19 फरवरी 2025 को हुई ताजा गिद्ध जनगणना के अनुसार प्रदेश में 12 हजार 981 गिद्ध पाए गए हैं। गिद्धों की संख्या बीते वर्ष में ही 19 प्रतिशत बढ़ी है।
रेस्क्यू सेंटर कम जू की स्थापना में लाएं तेजी
बैठक में मुख्यमंत्री डॉ. यादव को अवगत कराया गया कि उज्जैन जिले के नौलखी में वन्य जीव रेस्क्यू सेंटर कम जू प्रस्तावित है। मुख्यमंत्री ने इस सेंटर की स्थापना की प्रगति की जानकारी ली और इस कार्य में तेजी लाने के निर्देश दिए। उन्होंने कहा कि रेस्क्यू सेंटर कम जू को वन्य जीव पर्यटन के लिहाज से तैयार किया जाए।
बैठक में बताया गया कि उज्जैन की तरह एक वन्य जीव रेस्क्यू सेंटर कम जू का निर्माण जबलपुर जिले में भी प्रस्तावित है। मुख्यमंत्री डॉ. यादव ने कहा कि मध्यप्रदेश वन्य जीवों की विविधता से भरा राज्य है। यहां के मंदसौर, नीमच, शिवपुरी समेत चंबल के जिलों में बड़ी संख्या में मगरमच्छ पाए जाते हैं।
मुख्यमंत्री डॉ. यादव ने वन विभाग के अधिकारियों को वन्य जीवों के संरक्षण के निर्देशित करते हुए कहा कि मगरमच्छ सड़कों एवं आबादी क्षेत्र में न पहुंचे, इसके लिए उन्हें खाली पड़ी नदियों में पुनर्स्थापित किया जाए। मु्ख्यमंत्री डॉ. यादव ने कहा कि वन्य जीवों के संरक्षण एवं पुनर्वास के लिए विशेषज्ञों को आमंत्रित कर कार्यशालाएं एवं संयुक्त बैठक आयोजित की जाएं। देश-दुनिया के पर्यटकों को आकर्षित करने के लिए वन्य जीवों के संरक्षण को पर्यटन से जोड़ते हुए परियोजना तैयार करने की आवश्यकता है।
असम से गैंडें और अफ्रीका से जिराफ को लाकर मध्यप्रदेश में बसाने की तलाशें संभावनाएं
मुख्यमंत्री डॉ. यादव ने टाइगर, चीतों एवं घड़ियालों का घर बन चुके मध्यप्रदेश में असम के काजीरंगा नेशनल पार्क से गैंडों को लाने और साऊथ अफ्रीका से जिराफ को लाकर यहां बसाने की संभावनाएं तलाशने के निर्देश दिए। उन्होंने कहा कि मध्यप्रदेश में मौजूद पर्यटन स्थलों एवं वन्य जीव अभयारण्यों के आकर्षक वीडियो तैयार कर प्रसारित करने के निर्देश दिये।
बैठक में सदस्य मौजूद माखनलाल चतुर्वेदी विश्वविद्यालय के कुलगुरु श्री विजय मनोहर तिवारी ने म.प्र. के जंगलों में स्थित सांस्कृतिक महत्व के जनजातीय व अन्य देव स्थलों तथा पुरातन मंदिरों का सर्वेक्षण कर इनका अभिलेखीकरण करने का सुझाव दिया।
बैठक में मुख्यमंत्री डॉ. यादव ने वन्य प्राणी बोर्ड द्वारा प्रस्तावित किए गए 33 विकास प्रस्तावों में से 30 विकास प्रस्तावों का अनुमोदन किया।
