
National Science Day is celebrated in India on 28th February every year to honour the discovery of the Raman Effect by Sir C.V. Raman on 28th February 1928. This discovery won him the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1930, making him the first Asian to receive a Nobel in science. The theme for National Science Day 2025 is Empowering Indian Youth for Global Leadership in Science and Innovation for a Developed India.
Under this theme Department of Science, BSSS Bhopal celebrated National Science Week from 27th Feb to 05th March, 2025 comprising various events to encourage the ideas and innovations among the young scientific minds. Department organised Quiz and Poster competitions under the heading Vigyan Utsav and Vigyan Rachna to inculcate the awareness regarding the development in the field of science with creativity among the students.
On Second day of the weeklong celebration Prof. Rahul M. Shrivastava, HOD, Dept of Biological Science and Engineering, MANIT Bhopal gave an Expert Lecture on Importance of Science and Technology for Viksit Bharat. Dr. Astitwa Bhargava from NLIU Bhopal encouraged the students to raise digital awareness and opt Cyber Security as a part of their Career Expedition.
Dept of Science also organised Scavenger Hunt to test the scientific temperament and synchronized collaboration of the students in which 8 teams participated and the winners and runner ups were rewarded. To deliver the importance of Innovations in Technologies, Prof. Purnima Swaroop Khare, Director, School of Nanotechnology, RGPV Bhopal was invited as a resource person. She emphasized on the techniques to bridge gap between Education and Innovation.
On 5th March valedictory session was commenced to felicitate the winners of the various events organized during this week. The events and awards were supported and catalysed by NCSTC and Madhya Pradesh Council of Science and Technology, Bhopal.
