Bhopal. Under the initiative of Child Rights Observatory, Madhya Pradesh, and its associated unit Music and Dance Teachers’ Forum, a special platform called Protsahan Manch was launched to provide a stage for young practitioners of classical music and dance. This session featured performances of Dhrupad singing and Odissi dance.
The event began with a Dhrupad recital by Debiprasad Rath from Dhrupad Sansthan who performed a traditional Alaap, Jod, and Jhala in Raag Bhimpalasi, followed by a pure Dhrupad composition in Chautaal. He concluded with a Shiv Stuti, “Shiv Shiv Shiv Shankar Adidev“, set in Raag Adana, which was highly appreciated by the audience. He was accompanied on Pakhawaj by Anuj Yadav, while Akiko accompanied the Tanpura.
The second performance featured disciples of senior Odissi dancer Dr. Sonia Nag. Khushi Modhe presented Mangalacharan, while Tanisha Pani delivered a compelling performance in Dashavatar. The event concluded with a Shiv Stuti performed by Pakhi Soni and Sargam Sethia.
The chief guest of the event, classical singer and Assistant Director of Culture Bharti Rajput, emphasized in her address that along with artistic skill and technical proficiency, emotional expression is also crucial in classical music and dance. She appreciated the Protsahan Manch initiative, highlighting that such platforms provide opportunities for emerging classical talents.
Distinguished guest and renowned violinist Praveen Shevalikar remarked that no matter how much one practices, the real test happens in front of an audience, making platforms like these essential.
Held at Manjari Hall of Seven Hills School, South TT Nagar, the event saw a large audience, including Pakhawaj maestro Akhilesh Gundecha, Dhrupad singer Afzal Hussain and many others. Sunil Shukla hosted the program, while Raghuraj Singh delivered the vote of thanks. All participants were awarded certificates.
