To enhance the tourism sector and improve facilities in the state, the MP Tourism Board will sign significant agreements at the Global Investors Summit.
Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) will be signed with organizations such as India Hikes, Indigo Airlines, RedBus, and UN Women. These agreements will focus on key areas, including women’s safety, cleanliness at tourist destinations, expansion of tourism facilities, and skill development.
Principal Secretary of Tourism and Culture and Managing Director of the Tourism Board, Sheo Shekhar Shukla said that as part of this initiative, the MoU with the United Nations Women’s Organization (UN Women) aims to create employment opportunities for women in the tourism sector.
As part of initiatives like ‘Safe Tourist Destinations for Women,’ efforts are being made to enhance safety and inclusivity for women at tourist sites. In this context, an MoU is being signed between the Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board and the United Nations Women Organization (UN Women). The objective of this partnership is to make tourism in the state more inclusive and sensitive towards women.
Under this initiative, UN Women will provide technical support and assist in the development and implementation of policies, plans, and programs of the Tourism Board. The initiative will also focus on making tourist destinations safer for women, conducting awareness programs, and encouraging positive social behavior.
The Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board, in collaboration with RedBus India Private Limited and the district administration, will construct pink toilets for women at Kanchan Ghat and Citadel Complex in Orchha. RedBus will be responsible for the design, construction, and installation of these modern toilets, which will be specifically designed for women’s convenience.
The company will also maintain these facilities for a period of three years. Additionally, the Tourism Board, in partnership with Indigo Airlines, will work on expanding tourism facilities and organizing cultural activities at the historic Gwalior Fort, further enhancing the visitor experience.
Tourists and local women in Orchha will have access to modern and clean toilet facilities. These toilets will be equipped with a reliable water supply, electricity connection, and proper sewage treatment arrangements. Local women will be actively involved in the operation and maintenance of these facilities, ensuring their sustainability. This project will further enhance Orchha’s development as a modern tourist destination.
