ICC Champions Trophy-2025: Team India captain Rohit Sharma said ahead of the Champions Trophy match against Bangladesh that the squad includes two spinners, with the remainder being all-rounders. He said that having all-rounders boosts the team’s confidence.
While talking to the broadcasters, Virat Kohli said, I like the pressure of the Champions Trophy. We cannot afford to lose even one match here. India’s first match in the tournament will be against Bangladesh on February 20 in Dubai from 2.30 pm.
Rohit said, “We have included just two spinners in the team, while the rest are all-rounders. We prefer to play to our strengths. All three all-rounders provide us with various options. Our team has players with diverse skills. This is a crucial ICC tournament, and we need to give our all to secure the trophy.”
While talking to the broadcaster, Virat Kohli said, “The Champions Trophy is taking place after quite a while. To be honest, I have always enjoyed this tournament. It allows for the opportunity to play high-quality cricket throughout the year. Participation in this tournament is limited to teams ranked in the top eight, ensuring a consistently high level of competition.”
Kohli further said, “In T20, you typically have only 3-4 matches, and if you don’t perform well in 1-2 of them, it can lead to losses. Similarly, the first two matches in this tournament are crucial. We need to bring our best performance, as the pressure starts from the very first match, which is why I appreciate it.
The Champions Trophy started on Wednesday with a match between New Zealand and host Pakistan. In the opening match host Pakistan lost to New Zealand. Team India will start its campaign on 20 February.
Team India will face Bangladesh in Dubai at 2.30 pm. India will then face Pakistan on 23 February and New Zealand on 2 March.
