Seventeen people have died in a stampede at New Delhi Railway Station in the capital Delhi. The deceased include 10 women and three children. Besides, another 10 people are injured.
Many trains have been cancelled after the accident. Trains are running only from platform 16.
Officials said additional security forces have been deployed to control the situation at the railway station and four fire engines were also rushed to the spot. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said the situation is under control.
Following the announcement of a platform change for the train, a stampede broke out among the crowd. The train was shifted from platform 12 to platform 16. People rushed across the footbridge to reach the new platform.
According to some media reports, the incident was exacerbated by the congestion on platforms 13 and 14. It was reported that two trains heading to the Maha Kumbh were running late, leading to an increase in the crowd that ultimately resulting in the stampede
CMS Ritu Saxena of Lok Nayak Hospital (LNJP) Hospital has said that 17 people have died in the stampede at New Delhi Railway Station.

Delhi Fire Service has said that there was a stampede like situation at New Delhi Railway Station.
Posting on social media platform X, PM Modi wrote, “Saddened by the stampede at New Delhi Railway Station.”
“My sympathies are with those who lost their loved ones. Wishing the injured a speedy recovery. The administration is trying to find out those affected by the stampede.”
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh wrote on social media platform X that he is deeply saddened by the accident at New Delhi Railway Station.
He said, “He is shocked that lives have been lost due to stampede on the railway platform. His condolences are with the bereaved families in this hour of grief. I wish the injured a speedy recovery.”
At the same time, Home Minister Amit Shah said, “Talked to Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav ji and other concerned officials regarding the accident at New Delhi Railway Station.”
“Talked to the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi and Delhi Police Commissioner and instructed to provide all possible assistance to everyone. I express my condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in this accident. The injured are being given all possible treatment. I wish them a speedy recovery.”
An eyewitness Ajay Kumar said, “I came to the station at 9.15 in the night. When I came, there was a huge crowd at the railway station. My mother narrowly escaped death. We survived.”
“There was a huge crowd. Entry was from the exit side and there was a huge crowd. After a train left, there was a stampede. An old lady fainted in front of us.”
Another eyewitness Parvinder Kaur said, “We were on platform number 13. There was so much crowd that we could not even go inside. There was a huge crowd. We survived. There was a stampede like situation.”
Kaur said, “The policemen were doing their job. But the crowd continued to swell.”
An eyewitness named Preeti said, “The crowd was too much. Everyone was pushing each other. We were on platform number 13. Many people fell in front of us. They were being pushed. There was chaos.”
Posting on the social media platform, Ashwini Vaishnaw said, “The tragic stampede at New Delhi Railway Station has caused a deep shock. My condolences are with the families who have lost their loved ones. The entire team is helping those affected by the accident.”
Delhi’s Lieutenant Governor Vinay Kumar Saxena said in a post on social media that a tragic accident has taken place at New Delhi Railway Station.
Posting on the social media platform X, he wrote, “A tragic accident has taken place due to chaos and stampede at New Delhi Railway Station.”
“I have spoken to the Delhi Police Commissioner and asked him to handle the situation. The Chief Secretary has been asked to deploy relief workers. Hospitals are ready for any emergency.”
“Chief Secretary and Commissioner of Police have been asked to go to the spot and take stock of the situation. I am keeping an eye on the entire situation.”
राजधानी दिल्ली के नई दिल्ली रेलवे स्टेशन पर मची भगदड़ में 17 लोगों की मौत हो गई है। मृतकों में 10 महिलाएं और तीन बच्चे शामिल हैं। इसके अलावा 10 अन्य लोग घायल हैं।

अधिकारियों ने बताया कि रेलवे स्टेशन पर स्थिति को नियंत्रित करने के लिए अतिरिक्त सुरक्षा बल तैनात किए गए हैं और चार दमकल गाड़ियों को भी मौके पर भेजा गया है। रेल मंत्री अश्विनी वैष्णव ने कहा कि स्थिति नियंत्रण में है।
ट्रेन के प्लेटफॉर्म बदलने की घोषणा के बाद भीड़ में भगदड़ मच गई। ट्रेन को प्लेटफॉर्म 12 से प्लेटफॉर्म 16 पर शिफ्ट किया गया। लोग नए प्लेटफॉर्म पर पहुंचने के लिए फुटब्रिज पार करने लगे।
कुछ मीडिया रिपोर्ट्स के अनुसार, प्लेटफॉर्म 13 और 14 पर भीड़भाड़ के कारण यह घटना और भी गंभीर हो गई। बताया गया कि महाकुंभ की ओर जाने वाली दो ट्रेनें देरी से चल रही थीं, जिससे भीड़ बढ़ गई और आखिरकार भगदड़ मच गई।
लोक नायक अस्पताल (एलएनजेपी) की सीएमएस रितु सक्सेना ने कहा है कि नई दिल्ली रेलवे स्टेशन पर मची भगदड़ में 17 लोगों की मौत हो गई है। रेल मंत्री अश्विनी वैष्णव ने कहा है कि नई दिल्ली रेलवे स्टेशन पर भगदड़ मची है। दिल्ली फायर सर्विस ने कहा है कि नई दिल्ली रेलवे स्टेशन पर भगदड़ जैसी स्थिति थी।
सोशल मीडिया प्लेटफॉर्म एक्स पर पोस्ट करते हुए पीएम मोदी ने लिखा, “नई दिल्ली रेलवे स्टेशन पर मची भगदड़ से दुखी हूं।” “मेरी संवेदनाएं उन लोगों के साथ हैं जिन्होंने अपने प्रियजनों को खो दिया है। घायलों के जल्द स्वस्थ होने की कामना करता हूं। प्रशासन भगदड़ से प्रभावित लोगों का पता लगाने की कोशिश कर रहा है।”
रक्षा मंत्री राजनाथ सिंह ने सोशल मीडिया प्लेटफॉर्म एक्स पर लिखा कि वह नई दिल्ली रेलवे स्टेशन पर हुई दुर्घटना से बेहद दुखी हैं। उन्होंने कहा, “रेलवे प्लेटफॉर्म पर भगदड़ के कारण लोगों की जान जाने से वह स्तब्ध हैं। दुख की इस घड़ी में उनकी संवेदनाएं शोक संतप्त परिवारों के साथ हैं। मैं घायलों के शीघ्र स्वस्थ होने की कामना करता हूं।”
वहीं, गृह मंत्री अमित शाह ने कहा, “नई दिल्ली रेलवे स्टेशन पर हुए हादसे के संबंध में रेल मंत्री अश्विनी वैष्णव जी और अन्य संबंधित अधिकारियों से बात की।” “दिल्ली के उपराज्यपाल और दिल्ली पुलिस आयुक्त से बात की और सभी को हर संभव सहायता प्रदान करने के निर्देश दिए। मैं इस हादसे में जान गंवाने वालों के परिवारों के प्रति अपनी संवेदना व्यक्त करता हूं। घायलों को हर संभव उपचार दिया जा रहा है। मैं उनके शीघ्र स्वस्थ होने की कामना करता हूं।”
एक प्रत्यक्षदर्शी अजय कुमार ने कहा, “मैं रात 9.15 बजे स्टेशन पर आया था। जब मैं आया तो रेलवे स्टेशन पर बहुत भीड़ थी। मेरी मां बाल-बाल बच गईं। हम बच गए।” “वहां बहुत भीड़ थी। प्रवेश निकास द्वार की तरफ से था और वहां बहुत भीड़ थी। एक ट्रेन के जाने के बाद भगदड़ मच गई। हमारे सामने एक वृद्ध महिला बेहोश हो गई।”
एक अन्य प्रत्यक्षदर्शी परविंदर कौर ने कहा, “हम प्लेटफॉर्म नंबर 13 पर थे। वहां इतनी भीड़ थी कि हम अंदर भी नहीं जा सकते थे। वहां बहुत भीड़ थी। हम बच गए। भगदड़ जैसी स्थिति थी।” कौर ने कहा, “पुलिसकर्मी अपना काम कर रहे थे। लेकिन भीड़ बढ़ती जा रही थी।”
प्रीति नाम की एक प्रत्यक्षदर्शी ने कहा, “भीड़ बहुत ज्यादा थी। हर कोई एक-दूसरे को धक्का दे रहा था। हम प्लेटफॉर्म नंबर 13 पर थे। कई लोग हमारे सामने गिर गए। उन्हें धक्का दिया जा रहा था। वहां अफरा-तफरी मच गई।”
सोशल मीडिया प्लेटफॉर्म पर पोस्ट करते हुए अश्विनी वैष्णव ने कहा, “नई दिल्ली रेलवे स्टेशन पर हुई दुखद भगदड़ ने गहरा सदमा पहुंचाया है। मेरी संवेदनाएं उन परिवारों के साथ हैं जिन्होंने अपने प्रियजनों को खो दिया है। पूरी टीम दुर्घटना से प्रभावित लोगों की मदद कर रही है।”
दिल्ली के उपराज्यपाल विनय कुमार सक्सेना ने सोशल मीडिया पर एक पोस्ट में कहा कि नई दिल्ली रेलवे स्टेशन पर एक दुखद दुर्घटना हुई है। सोशल मीडिया प्लेटफॉर्म एक्स पर पोस्ट करते हुए उन्होंने लिखा, “नई दिल्ली रेलवे स्टेशन पर अफरातफरी और भगदड़ के कारण दुखद हादसा हुआ है।”
“मैंने दिल्ली पुलिस कमिश्नर से बात की है और उन्हें स्थिति को संभालने के लिए कहा है। मुख्य सचिव को राहतकर्मियों को तैनात करने के लिए कहा गया है। अस्पताल किसी भी आपात स्थिति के लिए तैयार हैं।”
“मुख्य सचिव और पुलिस कमिश्नर को मौके पर जाकर स्थिति का जायजा लेने के लिए कहा गया है। मैं पूरी स्थिति पर नजर रख रहा हूं।”
