
Bhopal: The four-day Artisan Awareness Week at NIFT College concluded recently. The closing ceremony featured a grand art and painting competition, with the enthusiastic participation of 70 students from various schools.
The participants, including students from Anant Utsav School, Mandideep, Chavara Vidya Bhavan, Mandideep, Graphite Higher Secondary School, Raisen, Jagran Lake City, Chandanpura, Sagar Public School, Sharda Vidya Mandir, DPS School, and NIFT College, showcased their artistic talents.
Providing a platform for young artists to demonstrate their creativity and artistic skills, the competition saw fine arts experts evaluate the paintings. The assessment criteria included creativity, originality, and artistic presentation. The event was a resounding success, promoting artistic expression and inspiring young talents.
In the 5-8 age group, Yash Malviya secured the first prize, Vaishnavi Rai won the second prize, and Namami Bhargava bagged the third prize.
In the 9-11 age group, Yatharth Jain won the first prize, Akanksha Sooryavanshi won the second prize, and Agraj Jain won the third prize.
In the undergraduate and postgraduate category, Divya Tamrakar (JLU) secured the first prize, Shamimu Athuman (JLU) won the second prize, and SS Abhinav (NIFT) won the third prize. The Joint Director of NIFT Bhopal, Akhil Sahai, distributed certificates and prizes to the winners.
Premal, a fourth-semester student from the Textile Department, shared her experiences of the Artisan Awareness Week, saying, “Many workshops were organized during the Artisan Awareness Week at our college. Today was the last day of the Craft Bazaar, and on this occasion, the AD Department showcased items made of bamboo, toys, and cow dung.
She said the Textile Department worked on natural dyeing techniques like batik printing, indigo dyeing, and dyeing with pomegranate peel. We also got the opportunity to visit various departments and learn new things. I also did pottery, in which many students made cups, which were very durable. This whole experience was very interesting and informative for us.”
The Craft Bazaar showcased exquisite handicrafts and artworks. The Craft Bazaar displayed the creativity of artisans and students, attracting visitors and art enthusiasts from various backgrounds.
On the last day of the Craft Bazaar several artists, including Master Artist of Gobar Shilp, Jitendra Kumar Rathore, State Award-winning Master Artist of Bamboo Craft, Dharmendra Roher, Master Artist of Terracotta (Clay Craft), Lakhan Prajapati, Shri Gopal Dewangan from Kosa Craft Champa, Chhattisgarh, and wood carving artist Aftab Multani, showcased their art. Artists from Chanderi, Maheshwar, and Banarasi also displayed their skills on this occasion. This wonderful confluence of art and craft mesmerized the audience.
