In an extraordinary demonstration of social responsibility and kindness, Dr. Bharat Rawat, a famous cardiologist at Medanta Hospital in Indore, set a new standard for wedding celebrations during his daughter’s recent marriage. Sushil Kumar Jain, President of the Paryavaran Sanskriti evam Manav Kalyan Trust, said this initiative is a model of public service and community care.
Instead of the traditional gifts and cash, Dr. Rawat told guests to bring old clothes and unused household items. He said that this innovative idea was inspired by a friend’s suggestion, and after discussing it with his family and children, they embraced the concept earnestly.
Dr. Rawat said the wasteful expenditures often associated with lavish celebrations should be totally avoided. He said, “We often waste a lot of money in the name of showing off. We can prioritize the happiness of others alongside our own. We all should take small steps and refrain from viewing these auspicious occasions as competitions.”
The wedding was celebrated with simplicity, earning praise from attendees. In a generous gesture, Dr. Rawat and his family donated all the cash and gifts received to a local NGO.
Dr. Srishti Saraf Sisodia, President of the BWISE Social Welfare Society, said that her organization has been helping the poor for the past eight years by collecting unused items from households.
She said that we have successfully supported over six weddings in a similar fashion. From the gifts at Dr. Rawat’s daughter’s wedding, new items were provided to those in need, including a sewing machine purchased with the cash donations, along with essential supplies and various gadgets.
