Farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal, who is on hunger strike, has agreed to take medical help but will not end indefinite fast.
Farmer leader Kaka Singh Kotra confirmed this and said that Jagjit Singh Dallewal has agreed to take medical help after the written invitation sent by the Central government for talks.
Despite this, Dallewal, whose fast-unto-death entered its 54th day, clarified that he will not end his indefinite fast till a legal guarantee on the minimum support price (MSP) for crops is given to the farmers.
The central government will hold a meeting with the protesting farmers in Chandigarh on February 14, in which their demands will be discussed.
This meeting will mark an end to a stalemate over the resumption of a dialogue with the agitators, who have been demanding a legal guarantee on the MSP for crops.
Earlier on Saturday, a delegation of officials from the Union agriculture ministry, led by Joint Secretary Priya Ranjan, met Dallewal and held a meeting with the representatives of the Samyukta Kisan Morcha (Non-Political) and Kisan Mazdoor Morcha, which are leading the protest for the last 11 months.
On Saturday, 10 more farmers joined the fast-unto-death at the Khanauri border point, bringing the total number of fasting farmers to 121.
The protesting farmers at Khanauri and Shambhu borders are protesting for other demands including legal guarantee on Minimum Support Price (MSP) for crops.
Jagjit Singh Dallewal has been on hunger strike for 54 days and there are reports of continuous deterioration in his health.
The protesting farmers have said many times that Jagjit Singh Dallewal will continue his fast unto death until the demands are met.
The farmers protesting at Khanauri and Shambhu borders have tried to enter Delhi many times, but they were stopped by the security forces.
