Bhopal: On the eve of Bhopal Gas Tragedy, special children of Chingari Rehabilitation Centre paid tributes to the martyrs of Bhopal Gas Tragedy through candlelight vigil. Children with various types of congenital disabilities participated.
The main motto of the peaceful candlelight tribute was to remember the pain and trauma their loved ones had endured. These children also want to give the message to the world to learn a lesson from this tragedy and take measures so that no more Bhopal happens in any other part of the world.
These children are not born disabled naturally but due to the poison of Dow Chemicals/ Union Carbide. Chigari Trust’s Champa Devi Shukla and Rasheeda Bee said we need to learn from this tragedy and create a world where corporates cannot spread such poison.
Chingari Trust has been working for the last 18 years for the rehabilitation of these congenitally disabled children born in the families affected by the tragedy and subsequent water contamination. At present, 1333 such children are registered with Chingari Trust.
Around 180 children come to Chingari Trust regularly and receive physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, speech education, sports, music, mid-day meals, medicines, pick and drop van facility and other facilities free of cost.
