The Madhya Pradesh Tourism Corporation is set to bring a taste of traditional Malwa and Nimar culinary heritage to its hotels, with famous regional dishes like Dal-Bafla, Dal Paniye, and Jowar-Maize rotis soon to be featured on the menu. This new initiative aims to introduce tourists to the rich flavors of local cuisine, enhancing their travel experience while promoting Madhya Pradesh’s unique cultural identity.
The state’s Tourism Minister has directed the mandatory inclusion of these dishes in all tourism department-operated hotels, emphasizing the importance of local food’s health and cultural benefits.
As part of a broader tourism expansion, the Madhya Pradesh government is also setting its sights on Hanumantiya Island in Khandwa, which is being developed as a destination for weddings. This project aligns with the trend of destination weddings, aiming to create a picturesque venue with enhanced facilities to attract more visitors to the state.
Hotels and resorts are being planned for the island, along with an array of year-round tourism activities. The goal is to establish Hanumantiya as a primary tourist hub, drawing both domestic and international travelers seeking unique and scenic wedding venues.
At a recent meeting with the Tourism State Development Corporation, Tourism Minister Dharmendra Singh Lodhi discussed several initiatives to promote local culture and cuisine in the tourism sector. The minister emphasized the need to raise awareness of local food’s health benefits for tourists staying at the state’s hotels.
Recognizing the rising influx of tourists, the minister also called for the expansion of hotels and rooms across key tourist areas. A plan is being developed to increase accommodation options, renovate older properties, and improve the infrastructure of the tourism sector to meet growing demand.
The government also intends to address underperforming properties, with plans for disposing of hotels and other assets with consistently low occupancy. This strategic move aims to streamline the tourism corporation’s operations while ensuring quality lodging for tourists.
Through these initiatives, Madhya Pradesh Tourism Corporation seeks not only to enhance tourist experiences but also to boost regional pride and local economic growth. The emphasis on traditional food and unique destination offerings aims to create a distinct identity for Madhya Pradesh as a culturally rich, tourist-friendly state.
