Ayodhya Deepotsav 2024: On the eve of Diwali, Ayodhya sparkled in an awe-inspiring glow as 28 lakh diyas (earthen lamps) lit up the 55 ghats along the sacred Saryu River, marking a new world record. The Guinness World Records team officially recognized this extraordinary feat, surpassing last year’s 22 lakh diyas and adding a mesmerizing aura to Ayodhya’s grand Diwali celebrations. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath attended the event.
Recreating Ramayana’s Triumph: A Grand Procession
In a vivid reenactment of the Ramayana, actors playing Lord Ram, Sita, and Lakshman made a ceremonial arrival in a symbolic Pushpak Vimana. Welcomed by CM Yogi Adityanath and thousands of devoted spectators, they stepped down and mounted a chariot for a royal procession through the city.
In a gesture of reverence, CM Yogi himself pulled the “Ram Rath” toward Ramkatha Park, where he conducted an aarti and performed the Raj Tilak of Lord Ram, honoring his return to Ayodhya. Dancers in traditional attire rejoiced in celebration, capturing the joyous spirit that accompanies Lord Ram’s return—a scene depicted city-wide to convey Ayodhya’s rich cultural heritage.

1600 Priests Perform the Saryu Aarti
In a powerful act of devotion, 1600 priests gathered along the Saryu Ghats to conduct the grand Saryu Aarti. The chants and rituals resonated deeply with the crowds, amplifying the sacred ambiance of Diwali in Ayodhya.
CM Yogi, speaking at the event, shared, “The diyas lit here are not just lamps; they symbolize the unbreakable faith of Sanatan Dharma.” He further emphasized Ayodhya’s historical role in promoting peace and humanity, saying, “Sanatan Dharma has always upheld humanity without causing harm, while those who go against it will face the consequences, just as the mafias in UP have.”

In a heartfelt gesture, CM Yogi joined in pulling the Ram Rath, symbolizing the state’s dedication to honoring and preserving the legacy of Lord Ram. Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat also addressed the gathering.
