Anushka Sen has performed live on stage in Times Square in New York City. She has created history by becoming the first Indian artist to do so. Anushka has also made her debut as a singer in the West by joining hands with AY Young, the United Nation’s Young Leader for Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Together, they performed on AY Young’s Battery Tour, which aims to power 1,000 concerts using clean energy.
Anushka along with AY Young performed on the song “Graduation” from Project 17, a music album inspired by the United Nation’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals. The song “Graduation” created by Grammy Award winner Ken Lewis shows Anushka’s strong support for education. The event in Times Square, New York was a part of Climate Week organized by Climate Group. This special moment is a big step in Anushka’s career and showcases her talent to the world.
During her performance at Times Square, Anushka looked confident in a beautiful outfit designed by a local designer from Jaipur, showing her support for Indian brands and sustainability. She wore a small bindi with her outfit which gave a cultural touch to her look. Performing with a live band, she represented India proudly on the international stage with great confidence in her voice. Held at one of the busiest places in the world, the event showcased global education, environmental protection and commitment to making the world a better place.
Recalling her experience, Anushka shared, “I am very grateful that I got the opportunity to be the first Indian to perform at Times Square. The fact that people from all over the world were watching us perform was an amazing experience. I am so grateful to AY Young for giving me this opportunity and Ken Lewis for coming here just to support us; it makes me feel like I have a family in America.
Anushka said further, “This musical journey is special because it is more than just entertainment; it is about the planet and helping people understand what we need to do for our Mother Earth in the years to come. Music has a magical way of bringing people together from different cultures and places around the world.”
Anushka said, “The audience was so warm and supportive, so I didn’t feel like it was my first performance. There were so many Indian fans cheering for me and dancing to the song with me. I loved my outfit because it was a perfect mix of Indian and American style. The bindi was my favorite part. It is a new beginning, and I am looking forward to seeing what I will explore and experience in this new musical journey.”
