Bhopal: NIFT Bhopal celebrated Janmashtami with a varied Dahi Handi ceremony. Director, Lt. Col. Ashish Agarwal along with his family enthusiastically participated.
On this occasion, all the students were dressed in traditional attire of Radha and Krishna, which made the campus a unique and attractive place. The students created artwork of Radha and Krishna and decorated the institute with leftover clothes (chindi) and old items which depicts ‘best out of waste’ and ‘sustainability’. In the Dahi Handi ceremony, the students broke the Dahi Handi by forming a human pyramid, which depicts an important aspect of Lord Krishna’s life.
This was followed by a tug of war in which all the students showed their mettle and brought together many states of India!
Pragya, a first year student shared her experience of celebrating her first Janmashtami at NIFT, “It was a very new experience for me. I remembered home while doing the puja. After a long time, I ate sitting on the floor in a row. Matki phod, tug of war were new to me and I enjoyed a lot. And it was nice to meet so many people.”
Lieutenant Colonel Ashish Agarwal praised the enthusiasm of the students and said, “The celebration of Janmashtami reflects NIFT Bhopal’s commitment to inclusion and diversity.”
The celebration was a successful one, promoting a collective and celebratory atmosphere at the institute.
