Prime Minister Narendra Modi has reached Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine. This is the first visit of an Indian Prime Minister to Ukraine since 1991. PM Modi has visited Ukraine for the first time since the war between Russia and Ukraine started. He interacted with Indian community in Kyiv. In the first leg of his visit, PM Modi reached Poland. In Poland, after talking to Prime Minister Donald Tusk, he said, “No problem can be solved on the battlefield.” PM Modi also said that we are ready to cooperate in every possible way to establish peace in the region. According to PM Modi, “The ongoing conflict in Ukraine and West Asia is a matter of deep concern for all of us.” About one and a half months prior to his Ukraine visit, PM Modi also visited Russia.
At the same time, he traveled from Poland to Ukraine by train. PM visits Martyrologist Exposition set up in memory of children PM Narendra Modi visited the multimedia Martyrologist exposition on children at the National Museum of History of Ukraine in Kyiv. He was accompanied by the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
The Prime Minister was deeply touched by the poignant exposition set up in memory of children who have lost their lives in the conflict. He expressed his sorrow at the tragic loss of young lives and as a mark of respect placed a toy in their memory. He underlined the timeless relevance of Mahatma Gandhi’s message of peace in building a harmonious society. He noted that the path shown by him offered solutions to present day global challenges. Mahatma Gandhi’s statue, located in ‘Oasis of Peace’ park in Kyiv, serves as a beacon of hope and peace for humanity.
